حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَلَّافُ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ أنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ وَسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ أَوْ أَحَدُهُمَا عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِيَاسِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ الْأَكْوَعِ قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ فَلَقِيَهُ بُرَيْدَةُ بْنُ الْحُصَيْبِ فَقَالَ ارْتَدَدْتَ عَنْ هِجْرَتِكَ يَا سَلَمَةُ؟ فَقَالَ

مَعَاذَ اللهِ فِي إِذْنٍ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «ابْدُوا يَا أَسْلَمُ فَشُمُّوا الرِّيَاحَ وَاسْكُنُوا الشِّعَابَ» فَقَالُوا إِنَّا نَخَافُ أَنْ يُغَيِّرَ ذَلِكَ هِجْرَتَنَا؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَنْتُمْ مُهَاجِرُونَ حَيْثُمَا كُنْتُمْ»

✧ God forbid that I would do so without the permission of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Go out to the desert, O Aslam, and smell the winds and dwell in the mountain passes." They said: "We fear that this will change our status as emigrants." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "You are emigrants wherever you are."
