حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ثنا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ ثنا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
غَزَوْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ هَوَازِنَ فَأَصَابَنَا جَهْدٌ شَدِيدٌ حَتَّى هَمَمْنَا بِنَحْرِ بَعْضِ ظَهْرِنَا فَقَالَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ «اجْمَعُوا بَعْضَ أَزْوَادِكُمْ» فَأَمَرَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ بِنِطَعٍ فَمُدَّ فَجَاءَ الْقَوْمُ بِتَمْرٍ فَنَثَرُوهُ فَتَطَاوَلْتُ لَهُ أُحْزِرُهُ أَنْظُرُ كَمْ هُوَ؟ فَإِذَا هُوَ كَرَبْضَةِ الشَّاةِ فَأَكَلْنَا جَمِيعًا حَتَّى شَبِعْنَا وَنَحْنُ أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ مِائَةً فَحَشَوْنَا جُرُبَنَا مِنْهُ ثُمَّ دَعَا نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ بِنُطْفَةٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فِي إِدَاوَةٍ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَصُبَّ فِي قَدَحٍ فَجَعَلْنَا نَتَطَهَّرُ بِهِ حَتَّى تَطَهَّرْنَا جَمِيعًا

✧ We raided with the Prophet ﷺ the Hawazin, and severe hardship befell us until we considered slaughtering some of our riding animals. The Prophet of God ﷺ said, “Gather some of your provisions.” The Prophet of God ﷺ ordered a leather mat to be spread out. The people came with dates and scattered them. I stretched myself toward it to estimate how much it was, and it was like the resting place of a sheep. We all ate until we were full, and we were fourteen hundred. Then we filled our provision bags from it. Then the Prophet of God ﷺ called for a little water in a small skin, ordered it to be poured into a cup, and we began to perform ablution with it until we all had performed ablution.
