حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ العَبَّاسِ الْأَخْرَمُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ ثنا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ثنا نَعَامَةُ الْعَدَوِيُّ ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ سَلْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الضَّبِّيِّ قَالَ
أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبِي كَانَ يَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ وَيَقْرِي الضَّيْفَ ويَفِي بِالذِّمَّةِ قَالَ «وَلَمْ يُدْرِكِ الْإِسْلَامَ؟» قَالَ لَا فَلَمَّا وَلَّيْتُ قَالَ «عَلَيَّ بِالشَّيْخِ» قَالَ «يَكُونُ ذَلِكَ فِي عَقِبِكَ فَلَنْ يَذِلُّوا أَبَدًا وَلَنْ يَفْقُرُوا أَبَدًا»

✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of God, my father used to maintain kinship ties, host guests, and fulfill covenants. He said: "Did he live to see Islam?" I said: No. When I turned away, he said: "Bring the old man to me." He said: "That will be in your descendants, so they will never be humiliated nor ever become poor."
