حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَلَّافُ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ أَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ وَابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ قَالَا ثنا ابْنُ الْهَادِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الصَّلْتِ عَنْ سُهَيْلِ ابْنِ بَيْضَاءَ قَالَ
بَيْنَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ وَسُهَيْلٌ رَدِيفُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَا سُهَيْلُ ابْنَ بَيْضَاءَ» وَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَوْتَهُ فَقَالَ سُهَيْلٌ لَبَّيْكَ وَرَفَعَ صَوْتَهُ صَنَعَ ذَلِكَ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا قَالَ سُهَيْلٌ عَرَفَ النَّاسُ أَنَّهُ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ بِشَيْءٍ يُسْمِعُهُمْ إِيَّاهُ فَلَحِقَنَا مَنْ كَانَ خَلْفَنَا وَحَبَسَ عَلَيْنَا مَنْ كَانَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْنَا حَتَّى اجْتَمَعُوا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ شَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ أَوْجَبَ اللهُ لَهُ الْجَنَّةَ وَحَرَّمَهُ بِهَا عَلَى النَّارِ»

✧ While we were with the Messenger of God ﷺ on a journey, Suhayl was riding behind the Messenger of God ﷺ on his camel. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “O Suhayl ibn Bayda’,” and raised his voice. Suhayl said, “At your service,” and raised his voice. He did that twice or three times. Suhayl said, “The people knew that he wanted to say something for them to hear.” So those behind us caught up, and those in front held back for us until they gathered. Then the Messenger of God ﷺ said, “Whoever bears witness that there is no god but God, God makes Paradise obligatory for him, and forbids him from the Fire thereby.”
