✧ In the virtue of reciting the Quran

حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ السَّدُوسِيُّ ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ أَوْسٍ عَنْ جَدِّهِ

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ تَوَضَّأَ فَاسْتَوْكَفَ ثَلَاثًا» قَالَ شُعْبَةُ وَكَانَ رَجُلًا عَرَبِيًّا فَقُلْتُ لَهُ مَا اسْتَوْكَفَ؟ قَالَ «غَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا»

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ performed ablution and asked for water to be poured over his hands three times. Shuʿbah said: He was an Arab man, so I said to him, 'What does istawkaf mean?' He said, 'He washed his hands three times.'
