✧ In the virtue of reciting the Quran

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ دُحَيْمٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا أَبِي ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثنا دُحَيْمٌ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ ثنا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ عَوْنٍ الْمَكِّيُّ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «قِرَاءَةُ الرَّجُلِ الْقُرْآنَ فِي غَيْرِ الْمُصْحَفِ أَلْفُ دَرَجَةٍ وَقِرَاءَتُهُ فِي الْمُصْحَفِ يُضَاعَفُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ إِلَى أَلْفَيْ دَرَجَةٍ»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'A man's recitation of the Qur'an without looking at the mushaf is a thousand degrees, and his recitation in the mushaf is multiplied over that up to two thousand degrees.'
