حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ النَّسَائِيُّ ثنا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ
أَنَّ امْرَأَةً جَاءَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ جِئْتُ لِأَهَبَ لَكَ نَفْسِي فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَصَعَّدَ النَّظَرَ إِلَيْهَا وَصَوَّبَهُ ثُمَّ طَأْطَأَ رَأْسَهُ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ ذَلِكَ الْمَرْأَةُ لَمْ يَقْضِ فِيهَا شَيْئًا جَلَسَتْ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ أَيْ رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكَ فِيهَا حَاجَةٌ فَزَوِّجْنِيهَا قَالَ «أَلَكَ شَيْءٌ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «فَمَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ؟» قَالَ سُورَةُ كَذَا وَسُورَةُ كَذَا قَالَ «فَقَدْ زَوَّجْتُكَهَا بِمَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ»

✧ A woman came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of God, I have come to give myself to you.” The Messenger of God ﷺ looked at her, raising his gaze and lowering it, then bowed his head. When the woman saw that he had not decided anything about her, she sat down. Then a man from among his companions stood up and said: “O Messenger of God, if you have no need of her, marry her to me.” He said: “Do you have anything?” He said: “No.” He said: “What do you have of the Quran?” He said: “Surah so-and-so and Surah so-and-so.” He said: “I have married her to you for what you have of the Quran.”
