✧ A woman brought the Prophet ﷺ a woven cloak with a border, and said, “O Messenger of Allah, I wove this with my own hands and came to clothe you with it.” A man—he named him—felt it and said, “O Messenger of Allah, how fine this cloak is! Clothe me with it?” He said, “Yes.” When he entered, he folded it and sent it to him. The people said, “By Allah, you have not done well. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was clothed with it while he needed it, then you asked him for it, knowing that he does not turn away a beggar?” He said, “By Allah, I did not ask him for it to wear it, but I asked him for it so that it might be my shroud on the day I die.” Sahl said, “And it was his shroud on the day he died.”
