✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say on the day of Khaybar: "I will surely give the banner to a man through whose hands Allah will grant victory." The people spent the night wondering who would be given it. When morning came, all the people went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, each hoping to be given it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Where is 'Ali b. Abi Talib?" They said: "O Messenger of Allah, he is suffering from an eye ailment." He sent for him, then spat in his eyes and prayed for him, and he was cured on the spot as if he had had no ailment. He gave him the banner. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, shall we fight them until they become like us?" He said: "Proceed gently until you reach their courtyard, then call them to Islam and inform them of the rights that are obligatory upon them therein. By Allah, for Allah to guide one man through your guidance is better for you than red camels."
