وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ قَالَ
وَقَعَ بَيْنَ عَلِيٍّ وَفَاطِمَةَ ؓ كَلَامٌ فَخَرَجَ عَلِيٌّ مُغْضَبًا فَأَلْقَى نَفْسَهُ عَلَى التُّرَابِ فَسَأَلَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ كَانَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ كَلَامٌ فَخَرَجَ مُغْضَبًا فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَوَجَدَهُ نَائِمًا عَلَى التُّرَابِ فَأَيْقَظَهُ وَجَعَلَ يَمْسَحُ التُّرَابَ عَنْ ظَهْرِهِ وَيَقُولُ «إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ أَبُو تُرَابٍ» قَالَ سَهْلُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ «كُنَّا نَمْدَحُهُ بِهَا فَإِذَا أُنَاسٌ يَعِيبُونَهُ بِهَا»
Translation
✧ Words passed between ʿAlī and Fāṭimah ؓ, and ʿAlī went out angry and threw himself on the dust. The Messenger of God ﷺ asked her, and she said: “There were words between me and him, and he went out angry.” The Messenger of God ﷺ went out and found him sleeping on the dust. He woke him and began wiping the dust from his back, saying: “You are only Abū Turāb.” Sahl b. Saʿd said: “We used to praise him with it, but some people criticize him with it.”
