✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of Khaybar: "I shall certainly give the banner tomorrow to a man through whose hands Allah will grant victory." The people spent that night wondering which of them would be given it. When morning came, they went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: "Where is 'Ali?" They said: "He is here, O Messenger of Allah, suffering from sore eyes." So he sent for him, spat into his eyes, and supplicated as Allah willed, and he was healed until there was no pain in him. Then he gave him the banner and said: "Advance steadily." 'Ali said to him: "O Messenger of Allah, shall I fight them until they become like us?" He said: "Proceed at your leisure until you descend upon their courtyard, then call them to Islam and inform them of what is due to Allah from them in it. For Allah to guide one man through you is better for you than red camels."
