حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ثنا أَبُو غَسَّانَ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ
ذُكِرَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ فَأَمَرَ أَبَا أُسَيْدٍ السَّاعِدِيَّ أَنْ يُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهَا فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهَا فَقَدِمَتْ فَنَزَلَتْ عَلَى بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ قَالَ وَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى جَاءَهَا فَلَمَّا كَلَّمَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالتْ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْكَ قَالَ «قَدْ أَعَاذَكِ مِنِّي» فَقَالُوا لَهَا تَدْرِينَ مَنْ هَذَا؟ هَذَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ جَاءَ لِيَخْطُبَكِ قَالَتْ إِنْ كُنْتُ أَشْقَى مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ سَهْلٌ فَأَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَئِذٍ حَتَّى جَلَسَ فِي سَقِيفَةِ بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ هُوَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اسْقِنَا يَا أَبَا سَعْدٍ» قَالَ فَأَخْرَجْتُ لَهُمْ هَذَا الْقَدَحَ فَسَقَيْتُهُمْ فِيهِ قَالَ أَبُو حَازِمٍ فَأَخْرَجَ لَنَا سَهْلٌ ذَلِكَ الْقَدَحَ فَشَرِبْنَا فِيهِ ثُمَّ اسْتَوْهَبَهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ فَوَهَبَهُ لَهُ

✧ A woman of the Arabs was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he ordered Abu Usayd al-Saʿidi to send for her. He sent for her, and she arrived and stayed with the Banu Saʿidah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out until he came to her. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke to her, she said: “I seek refuge in Allah from you.” He said: “He has granted you refuge from me.” They said to her: “Do you know who this is? This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; he came to propose to you.” She said: “Then I am most unfortunate in that.” Sahl said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then came and sat with his companions in the portico of the Banu Saʿidah. Then he said: “Give us something to drink, Abu Saʿd.” He said: So I brought out this drinking bowl and served them from it. Abu Hazim said: Sahl brought out that bowl for us and we drank from it. Later ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAziz, may Allah have mercy on him, asked for it as a gift, and he gave it to him.
