✧ Al-Qaʿnabī narrated to us from Mālik; and Bakr b. Sahl al-Dimyāṭī narrated to us, ʿAbd Allāh b. Yūsuf narrated to us, from Mālik, from Ibn Shihāb, from Abū Umāmah b. Sahl b. Ḥunayf, that he said: ʿĀmir b. Rabīʿah saw Sahl b. Ḥunayf washing himself and said, "By Allah, never have I seen, as on this day, nor the skin of a secluded maiden." So Sahl b. Ḥunayf was struck down, by Allah, unable to raise his head. He said, "Do you suspect anyone for him?" They said, "We suspect ʿĀmir b. Rabīʿah." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ summoned ʿĀmir b. Rabīʿah, became angry with him, and said, "For what reason does one of you kill his brother? Why did you not invoke blessing? Wash for him." So ʿĀmir washed for him his face, his hands, his elbows, his knees, the extremities of his feet, and the inner side of his waist-wrapper in a bowl. Then he poured it over him, and Sahl departed with no harm upon him.
