حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ثنا أَبُو مُسْهِرٍ وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُعَلَّى الدِّمَشْقِيُّ وَعَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ قَالَا ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ قَالَا ثنا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ شَرَاحِيلَ الْعَنْسِيُّ عَنْ بِلَالِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ أُمَّتِكَ خَيْرٌ؟ قَالَ «أَنَا وَأَقْرَانِي» قُلْنَا ثُمَّ مَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ « ثُمَّ الْقَرْنُ الثَّانِي» قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ « ثُمَّ الْقَرْنُ الثَّالِثُ» قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ « ثُمَّ يَكُونُ قَوْمٌ يَحْلِفُونَ وَلَا يُسْتَحْلَفُونَ وَيَشْهَدُونَ وَلَا يُسْتَشْهَدُونَ ويُؤْتَمَنُونَ وَلَا يُؤَدُّونَ»

✧ I said: "O Messenger of Allah, which of your community is best?" He said: "I and my contemporaries." We said: "Then who, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Then the second generation." I said: "Then who, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Then the third generation." I said: "Then who, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Then there will come a people who swear but are not asked to swear, who testify but are not asked to testify, and who are entrusted but do not fulfill."
