حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ خُلَيْدٍ الْحَلَبِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى الطَّبَّاعُ ثنا مَطَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْنَقُ عَنْ أُمِّ أَبَانَ بِنْتِ الْوَازِعِ بْنِ زَارِعٍ
عَنْ جَدِّهَا الزَّارِعِ وَكَانَ فِي وَفْدِ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ قَالَ لَمَّا قَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ جَعَلْنَا نَتَحَادَرُ مِنْ رَوَاحِلِنَا فَنُقَبِّلُ يَدَيِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَرِجْلَيْهِ وَانْتَظَرَ الْمُنْذِرُ الْأَشَجُّ حَتَّى أَتَى عَيْبَتَهُ فَلَبِسَ ثَوْبَهُ ثُمَّ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنَّ فِيكَ لَخَلَّتَيْنِ يُحِبُّهُمَا اللهُ الْحِلْمُ وَالْأَنَاةُ» قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَا أَتَخَلَّقُ بِهِمَا أَمِ اللهُ جَبَلَنِي عَلَيْهِمَا؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «بَلِ اللهُ جَبَلَكَ عَلَيْهِمَا» فَقَالَ الْمُنْذِرُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي جَبَلَنِي عَلَى خَلَّتَيْنِ يُحِبُّهُمَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَيُقَالُ اسْمُ الْأَشَجِّ عَائِذُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ذَكَرَهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ عَنْ مَطَرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَضْرَمِيُّ عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ عَبْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي دَاوُدَ

✧ From her grandfather al-Zari', who was among the delegation of Abd al-Qays, he said: When we arrived in Madinah, we began to leap down from our mounts and kiss the hands and feet of the Prophet ﷺ. Al-Mundhir al-Ashajj waited until he came to his saddlebag, put on his garment, then came to the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: 'You have two traits that Allah loves: forbearance and deliberateness.' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, do I cultivate them, or has Allah created me with them?' The Prophet ﷺ said to him: 'Rather, Allah has created you with them.' Al-Mundhir said: 'Praise be to Allah Who has created me with two traits that Allah and His Messenger love.' It is said that the name of al-Ashajj is A'idh b. Amr. Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi mentioned it from Matar b. Abd al-Rahman with this chain. Al-Hadrami narrated to us from Mahmud b. Abdah from Abu Dawud.
