حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا خَلَّادُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَسْلَمَ الْمِنْقَرِيِّ عَنْ زُهَيْرِ بْنِ أَبِي عَلْقَمَةَ الضُّبَعِيِّ قَالَ

أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَجُلٌ سَيِّءُ الْهَيْئَةِ فَقَالَ «أَلَكَ مَالٌ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ مِنْ كُلِّ أَنْوَاعِ الْمَالِ قَالَ «فَلْيُرَ عَلَيْكَ فَإِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يُحِبُّ أَنْ يَرَى أَثَرَهُ عَلَى عَبْدِهِ حَسَنًا وَلَا يُحِبُّ الْبُؤْسَ وَالتَّبَاؤُسَ» زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْجُشَمِيُّ لَمْ يَخْرُجْ

Translation

✧ A man of shabby appearance came to the Prophet ﷺ. He said: 'Do you have wealth?' He said: 'Yes, of all kinds of wealth.' He said: 'Then let it be seen on you, for Allah ﷻ loves to see the traces of His blessing on His servant in a good way, and He does not love misery or feigning misery.' Zuhayr b. Mu'awiyah al-Jushami: he is not included in the authentic collections.
