حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ رَاهَوَيْهِ ثنا أَبِي ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا أَبِي ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيُّ قَالُوا ثنا جَرِيرٌ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ قَالَ

كَانَ رَجُلٌ يَدْخُلُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَعَقَدَ لَهُ عُقَدًا فَوَضَعَهُ فِي بِئْرِ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَأَتَاهُ مَلَكَانِ يَعُودَانِهِ فَقَعَدَ أَحَدُهُمَا عِنْدَ رَأْسِهِ وَالْآخَرُ عِنْدَ رِجْلَيْهِ فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا أَتَدْرِي مَا وَجَعُهُ؟ قَالَ فُلَانٌ الَّذِي يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْهِ عَقَدَ لَهُ عُقَدًا فَأَلْقَاهُ فِي بِئْرِ فُلَانٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ فَلَوْ أُرْسِلَ رَجُلٌ وَأَخَذَ الْعُقَدَ لَوَجَدَ الْمَاءَ قَدِ اصْفَرَّ قَالَ «فَبَعَثَ رَجُلًا فَأَخَذَ الْعُقَدَ فَحَلَّهَا فَبَرَأَ وَكَانَ الرَّجُلُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يَدْخُلُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ لَهُ شَيْئًا مِنْهُ وَلَمْ يُعَاتِبْهُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ»

✧ There was a man who used to visit the Prophet ﷺ, and he tied knots for him and placed them in a well belonging to a man from the Ansar. Then two angels came to visit him. One of them sat at his head and the other at his feet. One of them said: “Do you know what his ailment is?” He said: “So-and-so, the one who visits him, tied knots for him and threw them into the well of so-and-so the Ansari. If a man were sent to take the knots, he would find the water had turned yellow.” He said: “So he sent a man who took the knots and untied them, and he recovered. After that, the man used to visit the Prophet ﷺ, but he never mentioned anything about it to him, nor did he rebuke him ﷺ.”
