حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ يَقُولُ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ مَرْوَانَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ

أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ قَالَ لِي زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ مَا لَكَ تَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْمَغْرِبِ بِقِصَارِ الْمُفَصَّلِ وَقَدْ «كَانَ نَبِيُّ اللهُ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْمَغْرِبِ طُولَ الطَّوِيلتَيْنِ» قُلْتُ لِعُرْوَةَ وَمَا طُولُ الطَّوِيلَتَيْنِ؟ قَالَ «الْأَعْرَافُ»

✧ He informed him, saying: Zayd b. Thabit said to me, “Why do you recite in the Maghrib prayer from the short mufassal surahs, when the Prophet of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the Maghrib prayer the longer of the two long ones?” I said to ʿUrwah, “And what are the two long ones?” He said, “Al-Aʿraf.”
