حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ثنا حَرَمِيُّ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ ثنا الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ نِبْرَاسٍ ثنا ثَابِتٌ الْبُنَانِيُّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ أَمْشِي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ نُرِيدُ الصَّلَاةَ فَكَانَ يُقَارِبُ الْخُطَى فَقَالَ «أَتَدْرِي لِمَ أَقَارِبُ الْخُطَى؟» فَقُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَقَالَ «لَا يَزَالُ الْعَبْدُ فِي صَلَاةٍ مَا دَامَ فِي طَلَبِ الصَّلَاةِ»

✧ I was walking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while we were heading to the prayer, and he was shortening his steps. He said, “Do you know why I shorten my steps?” I said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said, “The servant remains in prayer as long as he is seeking the prayer.”
