حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ أَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ
خَطَبَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْلِمِ فَقَالَتْ أَمَا إِنِّي فِيكَ لَرَاغِبَةٌ وَمَا مِثْلُكَ يُرَدُّ وَلَكِنَّكَ رَجُلٌ كَافِرٌ وَأَنَا امْرَأَةٌ مَسْلَمَةٌ فَإِنْ تُسْلِمْ فَذَلِكَ مَهْرِي لَا أَسْأَلُكَ غَيْرَهُ فَأَسْلَمَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ وَتَزَوَّجَهَا

✧ Abu Talha proposed to Umm Sulaym before he embraced Islam. She said, "Indeed I desire you, and the like of you is not rejected, but you are a disbelieving man and I am a Muslim woman. If you embrace Islam, that will be my dowry; I will not ask you for anything else." So Abu Talha embraced Islam and married her.
