حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ الْمِصْرِيٌّ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرٍ وَحَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَا ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ سَوَادَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ سُحَيْمًا حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ رُوَيْفِعِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ

قُرِّبَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ تَمْرٌ وَرُطَبٌ فَأَكَلُوا مِنْهُ حَتَّى لَمْ يُبْقُوا شَيْئًا إِلَّا نَوًى وَمَا لَا خَيْرَ فِيهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «تَدْرُونَ مَا هَذَا؟» قَالُوا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «تُذْهِبُونَ الْخَيْرَ فَالْخَيرِ حَتَّى لَا يَبْقَى مِنْكُمْ إِلَّا مِثْلُ هَذَا»

✧ Fresh and dried dates were brought near to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and they ate from them until they left nothing except pits and what had no good in it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do you know what this is?" They said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "You will take away the best, then the best, until there remains of you nothing like this."
