حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا حَبِيبُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَبَايَةَ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ قَالَ

كُنَّا غَزَاةً مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا نُصَبِّحُ الْعَدُوَّ غَدًا وَلَيْسَ مَعَنَا مُدًى أَفَنَذْبَحُ بِالْقَصَبِ وَالْمَرْوَةِ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ اذْكُرِ اسْمَ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ وَكُلْ إِلَّا السِّنَّ وَالظُّفُرَ فَأَمَّا السِّنُّ فَعَظْمٌ وَأَمَّا الظُّفُرُ فَمُدَى الْحَبَشَةِ

✧ We were on an expedition with the Prophet ﷺ. A man of the people said: "O Messenger of Allah, we will raid the enemy tomorrow, and we have no knives. May we slaughter with reeds and flint?" He said: "Yes. Mention Allah's name over it and eat, except the tooth and the nail. As for the tooth, it is bone; and as for the nail, it is the knife of the Abyssinians."
