حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ دُحَيْمٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا أَبِي ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْأَبَّارُ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الطَّائِفِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ أَبِي جَبَلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّهُ «أَبْصَرَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ عَلَى قَوْسٍ أَوْ عَصًا فِي مَشْرِقِ ثَقِيفٍ وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ حَتَّى خَتَمَهَا فَوَعَيْتُهَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَأَنَا مُشْرِكٌ ثُمَّ قَرَأْتُهَا وَأَنَا فِي الْإِسْلَامِ»

✧ That he “saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing on a bow or a staff in the eastern part of Thaqīf while reciting ‘By the sky and the night comer’ until he completed it. I memorized it in the Jāhiliyya while I was a polytheist, then I recited it in Islam.”
