حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ وَاصِلِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ أَبِي سَوْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ قَالَ

قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا السَّلَامُ فَمَا الِاسْتِئْنَاسُ؟ قَالَ قَالَ «يَتَكَلَّمُ الرَّجُلُ تَسْبِيحَةً وَتَكْبِيرَةً وَتَحْمِيدَةً وَيَتَنَحْنَحُ يُؤْذِنُ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ»

✧ We said: “O Messenger of God, this is the greeting (salām), so what is seeking permission (isti’nās)?” He said: “A man speaks a glorification, an akbīr, a praise, and clears his throat, thereby alerting the household.”
