حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ شَبِيبٍ الْعَسَّالُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْبَجَلِيُّ ثنا زَائِدَةُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي ظَبْيَانَ قَالَ

غَزَا أَبُو أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ بَلَدَ الرُّومِ فَلَمَّا ثَقُلَ قَالَ إِذَا أَنَا مُتُّ فَاحْمِلُونِي مَعَكُمْ فَإِذَا صَافَفْتُمُ الْعَدُوَّ فَادْفِنُونِي تَحْتَ أَقْدَامِكُمْ فَإِنِّي مُحَدِّثُكُمْ حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنِّي عَلَى حَالِي هَذِهِ مَا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ بِهِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ مَاتَ يَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ»

✧ Abū Ayyūb al-Anṣārī campaigned in the land of the Romans. When he became gravely ill, he said: “When I die, carry me with you, and when you line up against the enemy, bury me beneath your feet. I shall narrate to you a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; were it not for my present condition, I would not narrate it to you. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘Whoever dies bearing witness that there is no god but Allah will enter Paradise.’”
