حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَالْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ بِالْأَبْوَاءِ فَتَحَدَّثْنَا حَتَّى ذَكَرَا غَسْلَ الْمُحْرِمِ رَأْسَهُ قَالَ الْمِسْوَرُ لَا فَقَالَ

ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ بَلَى فَأَرْسَلَنِي ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ إِلَى أَبِي أَيُّوبَ يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ ابْنُ أَخِيكَ السَّلَامَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَيَسْأَلُكَ كَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَغْتَسِلُ وَيَغْسِلُ رَأْسَهُ إِذَا كَانَ مُحْرِمًا؟ فَوَجَدْتُهُ يَغْتَسِلُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيْ بِئْرٍ قَدْ سَتَرَ عَلَيْهِ بِثَوْبٍ فَلَمَّا انْتَسَبْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَسَأَلْتُهُ ضَمَّ الثَّوْبَ إِلَيْهِ حَتَّى بَدَا لِي وَجْهُهُ وَرَأْسُهُ وَإِنْسَانٌ قَائِمٌ عَلَى الْبِئْرِ يَصُبُّ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ «فَأَمَرَّ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ يَدَيْهِ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ فَأَقْبَلَ بِهِمَا وَأَدْبَرَ» فَقَالَ الْمِسْوَرُ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ لَا أُمَارِيكَ أَبَدًا «وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ»

✧ Ibn ʿAbbās said: “Yes.” So Ibn ʿAbbās sent me to Abū Ayyūb: “Your nephew ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAbbās sends you greetings and asks you how the Messenger of God ﷺ used to bathe and wash his head when in iḥrām.” I found him bathing between the two posts of a well, having screened himself with a garment. When I identified myself and asked him, he pulled the garment to himself until his face and head became visible to me, while a man stood at the well pouring water on him. Abū Ayyūb passed his hands over his head, bringing them forward and back. Then al-Miswar said to Ibn ʿAbbās: “I will never dispute with you again.” Ibn Jurayj did not trace it back to the Prophet.
