حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنِ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيِّ

عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَحِلُّ لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يَهْجُرَ أَخَاهُ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ يَلْتَقِيَانِ فَيَصُدُّ هَذَا وَيَصُدُّ هَذَا وَخَيْرُهُمَا الَّذِي يَبْدَأُ بِالسَّلَامِ»

✧ From Abu Ayyub al-Ansari: I do not think he did anything but trace it back to the Prophet, that the Prophet ﷺ said: "It is not lawful for a Muslim to boycott his brother for more than three days. They meet, and this one turns away and this one turns away. The better of the two is the one who initiates the greeting of peace."
