حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ قَالَ §خَرَجَتْ جَارِيَةٌ لِسَعْدٍ

يُقَالُ لَهَا زِيرَا وَعَلَيْهَا قَمِيصٌ جَدِيدٌ فَكَشَفَتْهَا الرِّيحُ فَشَدَّ عَلَيْهَا عُمَرُ ؓ بِالدِّرَّةِ وَجَاءَ سَعْدٌ لِيَمْنَعَهُ فَتَنَاوَلَهُ بِالدِّرَّةِ فَذَهَبَ سَعْدٌ يَدْعُو عَلَى عُمَرَ فَنَاوَلَهُ عُمَرُ الدِّرَّةَ وَقَالَ اقْتَصَّ فَعَفَا عَنْ عُمَرَ ؓ

✧ She was called Zīrā, and she was wearing a new shirt. The wind uncovered her, so ʿUmar ؓ struck her with a whip. Saʿd came to stop him, and he struck him with the whip. Saʿd went to supplicate against ʿUmar, but ʿUmar handed him the whip and said, “Take retribution.” So he forgave ʿUmar ؓ.
