حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى السَّاجِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ؓ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَأَى فِيمَا يَرَى النَّائِمُ قَالَ «رَأَيْتُ كَأَنِّي مُرْدِفٌ كَبْشًا وَكَأَنَّ ظُبَةَ سَيْفِي انْكَسَرَتْ فَأَوَّلْتُ أَنِّي أَقْتُلُ كَبْشَ الْقَوْمِ وأَوَّلْتُ ظُبَةَ سَيْفِي قَتْلَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ عِتْرَتِي» «فَقُتِلَ حَمْزَةُ وَقَتَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ طَلْحَةَ وَكَانَ صَاحِبَ اللِّوَاءِ»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw in a dream the kind of thing a sleeping person sees. He said: "I saw as if I was riding behind a ram, and as if the blade of my sword broke. I interpreted it that I would kill the ram of the people, and I interpreted the blade of my sword as the killing of a man from my kin." Then Hamzah was killed, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ killed Talhah, who was the standard-bearer.
