حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ الْخَطَّابِيُّ ثنا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ «§مَا

سَمِعْتُ نَوْحَ الْجِنِّ مُنْذُ قُبِضَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِلَّا اللَّيْلَةَ وَمَا أَرَى ابْنِي إِلَّا قَدْ قُتِلَ» تَعْنِي الْحُسَيْنَ ؓ فَقَالَتْ لِجَارِيَتِهَا «اخْرُجِي فَسَلِي» فَأُخْبِرَتْ أَنَّهُ قَدْ قُتِلَ وَإِذَا جِنِّيَّةٌ تَنُوحُ

Translation

✧ I have heard the wailing of the jinn since the Prophet ﷺ passed away, except tonight. I do not think my son except that he has been killed, meaning al-Husayn ؓ. She said to her slave girl: 'Go out and ask.' She was informed that he had been killed, and there was a female jinn wailing.
