حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ جَدِّي عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الْكِنْدِيِّ قَالَ

«لَمَّا قُتِلَ الْحُسَيْنُ ؓ مَكَثْنَا سَبْعَةَ أَيَّامٍ إِذَا صَلَّيْنَا الْعَصْرَ نَظَرْنَا إِلَى الشَّمْسِ عَلَى أَطْرَافِ الْحِيطَانِ كَأَنَّهَا الْمَلَاحِفُ الْمُعَصْفَرَةُ وَنَظَرْنَا إِلَى الْكَوَاكِبِ يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا»

✧ "When al-Husayn ؓ was killed, we remained for seven days; when we prayed the afternoon prayer we looked at the sun on the edges of the walls as if it were dyed yellow sheets, and we looked at the stars striking one another."
