حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ السَّقَطِيُّ قَالَا ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ سَالِمٍ الشَّاشِيُّ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ هُبَيْرَةَ بْنِ يَرِيمَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ؓ قَالَ
«لَقَدْ فَارَقَكُمْ رَجُلٌ لَمْ يَسْبِقْهُ أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ بِعِلْمٍ وَلَا يُدْرِكُهُ أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ مَنْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَبْعَثُهُ فَيُعْطِيهِ الرَّايَةَ ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ وَلَا يَرْجِعُ حَتَّى يَفْتَحَ اللهُ ﷻ عَلَيْهِ جِبْرِيلُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَمِيكَائِيلُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ يُقَاتِلُونَ مَعَهُ مَاتَ وَلَمْ يَتْرُكْ دِينَارًا وَلَا دِرْهَمًا إِلَّا حُلِيًّا قِيمَتُهُ سَبْعُ مِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ فَضَلَتْ عَنْ عَطَائِهِ»

✧ A man has departed from you whom no one among the earlier ones surpassed in knowledge, and no one among the later ones will overtake. He was the one whom the Prophet ﷺ would send, and he would give him the banner, then he would set out and not return until Allah ﷻ granted him victory. Jibril was on his right and Mika'il on his left, fighting with him. He died and left no dinar or dirham except ornaments worth seven hundred dirhams that remained from his stipend.
