حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمُزَنِيُّ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ هُبَيْرَةَ بْنِ يَرِيمَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ ؓ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ
«يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ لَقَدْ فَارَقَكُمْ بِالْأَمْسِ رَجُلٌ مَا سَبَقَهُ الْأَوَّلُونَ بِعِلْمٍ وَلَا يُدْرِكُهُ الْآخِرُونَ إِنْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَبْعَثُهُ الْمَبْعَثَ فَيُعْطِيهِ الرَّايَةَ فَمَا يَرْجِعُ حَتَّى يَفْتَحَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَمِيكَائِيلَ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ مَا تَرَكَ صَفْرَاءَ وَلَا بَيْضَاءَ إِلَّا سَبْعَ مِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَ بِهَا خَادِمًا»

✧ O people, yesterday a man departed from you whom the earlier ones did not surpass in knowledge, nor will the later ones overtake. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would send him on expeditions and give him the banner, and he would not return until Allah granted him victory. Indeed, Jibril was on his right and Mika'il on his left. He left no gold or silver except seven hundred dirhams with which he intended to buy a servant.
