حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُبَيْلٍ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ لَمَّا
أَنْ دَنَوْتُ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنَخْتُ رَاحِلَتِي ثُمَّ حَلَلْتُ عَيْبَتِي فَلَبِسْتُ حُلَّتِي فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَرَمَانِي النَّاسُ بِالْحَدَقِ فَقُلْتُ لِجَلِيسِي يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ هَلْ ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ أَمْرِي شَيْئًا؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ ذَكَرَكَ بِأَحْسَنِ الذِّكْرِ بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ عَرَضَ لَهُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ فَقَالَ «إِنَّهُ سَيَدْخُلُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا الْفَجِّ أَوْ مِنْ هَذَا الْبَابِ مِنْ خَيْرِ ذِي يُمْنٍ أَلَا وَإِنَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ مَسْحَةَ مَلَكٍ» قَالَ «فَحَمِدْتُ اللهَ عَلَى مَا أَبْلَانِي»

✧ When I approached Madinah, I made my mount kneel, then I untied my bag and put on my fine clothes and entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was delivering a sermon. I greeted the Prophet ﷺ, and the people stared at me. I said to the one sitting next to me: “O servant of Allah, did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mention anything about me?” He said: “Yes, he mentioned you with the best of mentions. While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering a sermon, he digressed in his sermon and said: ‘There will enter upon you from this mountain pass or from this gate one of the best of those with blessing; indeed, on his face is the mark of an angel.’” He said: “So I praised Allah for what He had bestowed upon me.”
