حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الضَّبِّيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ أنا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ شَبِيبِ بْنِ غَرْقَدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُثَنَّى الْمُسْتَظِلِّ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَكَانَ أَمِيرًا عَلَيْنَا يَقُولُ بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ إِنِّي رَجَعْتُ فَدَعَانِي فَقَالَ «لَا أَقْبَلُ مِنْكَ حَتَّى تُبَايِعَ وَالنُّصْحَ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ فَبَايَعْتُهُ»

✧ I heard Jarir b. 'Abd Allah, who was our commander, say: "I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then I returned, and he called me and said: 'I will not accept from you until you pledge allegiance with sincerity to every Muslim.' So I pledged allegiance to him."
