حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الزَّيَّاتُ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو زُرْعَةَ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ
لَمَّا قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَدِينَةَ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ «انْطَلِقُوا بِنَا إِلَى أَهْلِ قُبَاءَ فَنُسَلِّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ» فَأَتَاهُمْ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَرَحَّبُوا بِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا أَهْلَ قُبَاءَ إِيتُونِي بِأَحْجَارٍ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْحَرَّةِ» فَجُمِعَتْ عِنْدَهُ أَحْجَارٌ كَثِيرَةٌ وَمَعَهُ عَنَزَةٌ لَهُ فَخَطَّ قِبْلَتَهُمْ فَأَخَذَ حَجَرًا فَوَضَعَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ خُذْ حَجَرًا فَضَعْهُ إِلَى حِجْرِي» ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا عُمَرُ خُذْ حَجَرًا فَضَعْهُ إِلَى جَنْبِ حَجَرِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ» ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ فَقَالَ «يَا عُثْمَانُ خُذْ حَجَرًا فَضَعْهُ إِلَى جَنْبِ حَجَرِ عُمَرَ» ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ إِلَى النَّاسِ بِآخِرَةٍ فَقَالَ «وَضَعَ رَجُلٌ حَجَرَهُ حَيْثُ أَحَبَّ عَلَى ذِي الْخَطِّ»

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Madinah, he said to his companions, “Come with us to the people of Quba’ so we may greet them.” He went to them and greeted them, and they welcomed him. Then he said, “O people of Quba’, bring me stones from this harrah.” Many stones were gathered before him, and he had a short spear with him. He marked out their qiblah, then took a stone and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed it. Then he said, “O Abu Bakr, take a stone and place it next to my stone.” Then he said, “O Umar, take a stone and place it next to the stone of Abu Bakr.” Then he turned and said, “O Uthman, take a stone and place it next to the stone of Umar.” Then he turned to the people at the end and said, “Let a man place his stone wherever he wishes along this line.”
