✧ The lineage of Zubayr b. al-Awwam "Zubayr b. al-Awwam b. Khawilid b. Asad b. Abd al-Uzza b. Qusayy b. Kilab b. Murrah b. Ka'b b. Lu'ayy b. Ghalib b. Fihr b. Malik, known as Abu Abdullah, and his mother: Safiyyah bt. Abd al-Muttalib, the aunt of the Messenger.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ثنا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ قَالَ

أَسْلَمَ الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَمَانِ سِنِينَ وَهَاجَرَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَمَانَ عَشْرَةَ وَكَانَ عَمُّ الزُّبَيْرِ يُعَلِّقُ الزُّبَيْرَ فِي حَصِيرٍ وَيُدَخِّنُ عَلَيْهِ بِالنَّارِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ ارْجِعْ إِلَى الْكُفْرِ فَيَقُولُ الزُّبَيْرُ لَا أَكْفُرُ أَبَدًا

✧ Zubayr b. al-Awwam embraced Islam at the age of eight, and he emigrated at the age of eighteen. Zubayr's uncle would hang Zubayr in a mat and smoke him with fire, saying, "Return to disbelief," and Zubayr would say, "I will never disbelieve."
