حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الدَّاهِرِيُّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عُرَيْنَةَ الْعُرَنِيِّ عَنْ جُفَيْنَةَ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ كِتَابًا فَرَقَعَ بِهِ دَلْوَهُ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ ابْنَتُهُ عَمَدْتُ إِلَى كِتَابِ سَيِّدِ الْعَرَبِ فَرَقَعْتَ بِهِ دَلْوَكَ فَهَرَبَ وَأَخَذَ كُلَّ قَلِيلٍ وَكَثِيرٍ هُوَ لَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ بَعْدُ مُسْلِمًا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «انْظُرْ مَا وَجَدْتَ مِنْ مَتَاعِكَ قَبْلَ قِسْمَةِ السِّهَامِ فَخُذْهُ»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ wrote him a letter, and he patched his bucket with it. His daughter said to him, “You took the letter of the master of the Arabs and patched your bucket with it!” So he fled, taking every little and much that was his, then later came as a Muslim. The Prophet ﷺ said, “Look for whatever of your belongings you find before the division of shares, and take it.”
