✧ Umm Qays bt. Mihsan, who was one of the first emigrant women who pledged allegiance to the Messenger of God ﷺ, informed me that she brought her son to the Messenger of God ﷺ, who had not reached the age of eating food, and she had pressed his uvula because of a throat ailment. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “Why do you press your children’s throats with these? Use this Indian wood—meaning costus—for it contains seven cures, one of which is pleurisy.” ‘Ubayd Allah said: Umm Qays informed me that her son urinated in the lap of the Prophet ﷺ, so the Messenger of God ﷺ called for water and poured it over the urine, but did not wash it.
