حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ بْنِ السَّرْحِ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ الْكُوفِيُّ قَالَا ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمُّ جُنْدُبٍ قَالَتْ

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ مِنْ بَطْنِ الْوَادِي يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ وَهُوَ عَلَى دَابَّةٍ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فَتَبِعَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ وَمَعَهَا صَبِيُّ لَهَا بِهِ بَلَاءٌ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ هَذَا ابْنِي وَبَقِيَّةُ أَهْلِي وَإِنَّ بِهِ بَلَاءً لَا يَتَكَلَّمُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ائْتُونِي بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ وَمَضْمَضَ فَاهُ ثُمَّ أَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ فَقَالَ اسْقِيهِ مِنْهُ وَصُبِّي عَلَيْهِ مِنْهُ فَاسْتَشْفِ اللهَ لَهُ قَالَتْ فَلَقِيتُ الْمَرْأَةَ فَقُلْتُ لَوْ وَهَبْتِ لِي مِنْهُ قَالَتْ إِنَّمَا هُوَ لِهَذَا الْمُبْتَلَى قَالَتْ فَلَقِيتُ الْمَرْأَةَ مِنَ الْحَوْلِ الْمُقْبِلِ فَسَأَلْتُهَا عَنِ الْغُلَامِ فَقَالَتْ بَرَأَ وَعَقَلَ عَقْلًا لَيْسَ كَعُقُولِ النَّاسِ

✧ I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stone Jamrat al-‘Aqabah from the bottom of the valley on the Day of Sacrifice while he was riding a mount. Then he left, and a woman from Khath‘am followed him, and she had a young son with her who was afflicted. She said: “O Messenger of Allah, this is my son and the remnant of my family, and he is afflicted and cannot speak.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Bring me some water.” He washed his hands and rinsed his mouth, then gave it to her and said: “Give him to drink from it and pour some of it over him, and seek healing from Allah for him.” She said: I later met the woman and said: “If only you would give me some of it.” She said: “It is only for this afflicted one.” She said: I met the woman the following year and asked her about the boy, and she said: “He recovered and gained an intellect unlike the intellects of people.”
