حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ الْحِمَّانِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ قَالُوا ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ

عَنْ أُمِّ الْعَلَاءِ وَكَانَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ نِسَائِهِمْ قَدْ بَايَعَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَتْ تُوُفِّيَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مَظْعُونٍ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ فِي أَثْوَابِهِ فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ رَحِمَكَ اللهُ أَبَا السَّائِبِ شَهَادَتِي عَلَيْكَ لَقَدْ أَكْرَمَكَ اللهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ أَمَّا هُوَ فَقَدْ أَتَاهُ الْيَقِينُ وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو لَهُ الْخَيْرَ وَمَا أَدْرِي مَا يَفْعَلُ اللهُ بِهِ» فَقُلْتُ وَاللهِ لَا أُزَكِّي بَعْدَهُ أَحَدًا أَبَدًا فَأَخْرَسَنِي قَوْلُهُ فَلَمَّا نِمْتُ رَأَيْتُ عَيْنًا تَجْرِي لِعُثْمَانَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «ذَاكَ عَمَلُهُ»

✧ From Umm al-Ala', who was a woman among their women who had given allegiance to the Prophet ﷺ. She said: Uthman b. Maz'un died, and we placed him in his garments. The Prophet ﷺ came, and I said, “May Allah have mercy on you, Abu al-Sa'ib. My testimony for you is that Allah has honored you.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “What makes you know that? As for him, certainty has come to him. By Allah, I hope good for him, and I do not know what Allah will do with him.” I said, “By Allah, I will never praise anyone after him ever.” His words silenced me. When I slept, I saw an eye flowing with water for Uthman b. Maz'un. I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, “That is his deeds.”
