حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عِقَالٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ أُمِّ مُبَشِّرٍ قَالَتْ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بَخَيْرِ النَّاسِ رَجُلًا؟» قَالُوا بَلَى فَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ نَحْوَ الْمَشْرِقِ فَقَالَ «رَجُلٌ آخِذٌ بِعَنَانِ فَرَسِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ يَنْتَظِرُ أَنْ يُغِيرَ أَوْ يُغَارَ عَلَيْهِ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ النَّاسِ بَعْدَهُ رَجُلًا؟» قَالُوا بَلَى فَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ نَحْوَ الْحِجَازِ فَقَالَ «رَجٌلٌ فِي غَنَمِهِ يُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ يَعْلَمُ مَا حَقُّ اللهِ فِي مَالِهِ قَدِ اعْتَزَلَ النَّاسَ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Shall I not tell you about the best of people, a man?” They said, “Yes indeed.” He pointed with his hand toward the east and said: “A man holding the reins of his horse in the path of Allah, waiting to raid or be raided upon. Shall I not tell you about the best of people after him, a man?” They said, “Yes indeed.” He pointed with his hand toward the Hijaz and said: “A man among his sheep, who establishes the prayer, gives the zakah, knows what is due to Allah from his wealth, and has withdrawn from people.”
