حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ حَدَّثَتْنِي زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ كَعْبٍ عَنْ فُرَيْعَةَ بِنْتِ مَالِكٍ قَالَتْ
خَرَجَ زَوْجِي فِي طَلَبِ أَعْلَاجٍ لَنَا فَأَدْرَكَهُمْ بِطَرَفِ الْقُدُومِ فَقَتَلُوهُ فَأَتَانِي نَعْيُهُ وَأَنَا فِي دَارٍ شَاسِعَةٍ مِنْ دُورِ أَهْلِي فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَأْذَنْتُهُ أَنْ آتِيَ أَهْلِي فَأَذِنَ لِي ثُمَّ قَالَ «لَا حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْكِتَابُ أَجَلَهُ»

✧ My husband went out in search of some 'uluj (laborers) of ours, and he caught up with them at the edge of al-Qudum, and they killed him. News of his death came to me while I was in a house far from the houses of my family. So I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked his permission to go to my family, and he gave me permission. Then he said, "No, not until the prescribed term reaches its end."
