حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ ثنا أَبُو حَفْصٍ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْلَى بْنِ كَعْبٍ الطَّائِفِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ رَبِّهِ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي بِنْتُ رُقَيْقَةَ عَنْ أُمِّهَا رُقَيْقَةَ قَالَتْ

لَمَّا جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَبْتَغِي النَّصْرَ بِالطَّائِفِ دَخَلَ عَلِيَّ فَأَخْرَجْتُ لَهُ شَرَابًا مِنْ سَوِيقٍ فَقَالَ «يَا رُقَيْقَةُ لَا تَعْبُدِي طَاغِيَتَهُمْ وَلَا تُصَلِّي لَهَا» قَالَتْ إِذًا يَقْتُلُونِي قَالَ «فَإِذَا قَالُوا لَكِ فَقُولِي رَبِّي رَبُّ هَذِهِ الطَّاغِيَةِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتِهَا فَوَلِّها ظَهْرَكِ» ثُمَّ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ عِنْدِي

Translation

✧ When the Prophet ﷺ came seeking support in al-Ṭā’if, he entered upon me, and I brought him a drink of sawīq. He said, “O Ruqayqah, do not worship their idol and do not pray to it.” She said, “Then they will kill me.” He said, “If they say that to you, say: My Lord is the Lord of this idol. And if you see it, turn your back to it.” Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ left me.
