حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ كَانَ عِنْدَ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ فَسُئِلَ

عَنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ فَلَمْ يَرَ بِهِ بَأْسًا فَبَعَثَ مَرْوَانُ بَعْضَ حَرَسِهِ إِلَى بُسْرَةَ بِنْتِ صَفْوَانَ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا مَسَّ الرَّجُلُ فَرْجَهُ بِيَدِهِ فَلَا يُصَلِّي حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ» فَرَجَعَ فَقَالَ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ فَكَانَ أَبِي بَعْدُ يَقُولُ مَنْ مَسَّ رُفْغَهُ أَوْ أُنْثَيَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ

Translation

✧ About touching the penis, and he saw no harm in it. Then Marwan sent one of his guards to Busrah bt. Safwan, and he said: 'She narrated to me that the Prophet ﷺ said: "When a man touches his private part with his hand, he must not pray until he performs wudu." ' So he returned and said: 'She said yes.' After that, my father used to say: 'Whoever touches his groin or his testicles must perform wudu.'
