حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتَ رُقَيْقَةَ التَّيْمِيَّةَ حَدَّثَتْهُ
أَنَّهَا أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي نِسَاءٍ فَقَالَ «تُبَايِعْنَ عَلَى أَنْ لَا تُشْرِكْنَ بِاللهِ شَيْئًا وَلَا تَسْرِقْنَ وَلَا تَزْنِينَ» الْآيَةُ ثُمَّ سَكَتَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وَأَطَقْتُنَّ» فَقُلْنَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ وأرحمُ بِنَا مِنْ أَنْفُسِنَا وَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بَايِعْنَا قَالَ «إِنِّي لَا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ كَقَوْلِي لِامْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ»

✧ She came to the Prophet ﷺ among a group of women. He said: “You give allegiance that you will not associate anything with Allah, will not steal, and will not commit adultery” — the verse. Then he was silent, then said: “In what you are able and can bear.” They said: Allah and His Messenger know better and are more merciful to us than ourselves. We said: O Messenger of Allah, accept our allegiance. He said: “I do not shake hands with women. My word to a hundred women is like my word to one woman.”
