حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْأَشْيَبُ ثنا شَيْبَانُ عَنْ لَيْثٍ عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ قَالَتْ

أَتَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِشَرَابٍ فَدَارَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ وَفِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ صَائِمٌ فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهُ يَصُومُ الدَّهْرَ فَقَالَ «لَا صَامَ مَنْ صَامَ الْأَبَدَ»

✧ A drink was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and it was passed around among the people, among them a man who was fasting. It was said: “O Messenger of Allah, he fasts the whole time.” He said: “He has not fasted—the one who fasts perpetually.”
