حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ الْحِمَّانِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ قَالَتْ

لَمَّا مَاتَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ ابْنُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ دَمَعَتْ عَيْنا النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّكَ أَحَقُّ مَنْ عَرَفَ لِلَّهِ حَقَّهُ فَقَالَ «تَدْمَعُ الْعَيْنُ وَيَحْزَنُ الْقَلْبُ وَلَا نَقُولُ مَا يُسْخِطُ الرَّبَّ وَلَوْلَا أَنَّهُ وَعَدٌ صَادِقٌ وَمَوْعِدٌ جَامِعٌ وَإِنَّ الْآخِرَ تَابَعُ الْأَوَّلِ لَحَزَنَّا أَكْثَرَ مِنْ هَذَا وَإِنَّا يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ عَلَيْكَ لَمَحْزُونُونَ»

✧ When Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet ﷺ, died, the eyes of the Prophet ﷺ shed tears. It was said to him, "You are the most deserving person who knows the rights of Allah." He said, "The eyes shed tears, and the heart feels sadness, but we do not say anything that displeases the Lord. If it were not for the fact that He is the truthful promise and the gathering appointment, and that the later follows the former, we would be more saddened than this. Verily, O Ibrahim, we are saddened by your loss."
