حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَتْ

أَتَيْتُ عَائِشَةَ فَإِذَا النَّاسُ قِيَامٌ وَإِذَا هِيَ تُصَلِّي فَقُلْتُ مَا شَأْنُ النَّاسِ؟ فَأَشَارَتْ بِيَدِهَا نَحْوَ السَّمَاءِ وَقَالَتْ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ فَقُلْتُ آيَةٌ؟ فَأَشَارَتْ بِرَأْسِهَا أَيْ نَعَمْ فَقُمْتُ حَتَّى تَجَلَّانِي الْغَشْيُ وَجَعَلْتُ أَصُبُّ عَلَى رَأْسِي مِنَ الْمَاءِ قَالَتْ فَحَمِدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ بِمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ وَقَالَ مَا مِنْ شَيْءٍ أُرِيتُهُ إِلَّا رَأيَتُهُ فِي مَقَامِي هَذَا حَتَّى الْجَنَّةِ وَالنَّارِ وَقَدْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّكُمْ تُفْتَنُونَ فِي الْقُبُورِ مِثْلَ أَوْ قَرِيبًا لَا أَدْرِي أَيَّ ذَلِكَ قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ يُؤْتَىأَحَدُكُمْ فَيُقَالُ لَهُ مَا عِلْمُكَ بِهَذَا الرَّجُلِ؟ فَأَمَّا الْمُؤْمِنُ فَيَقُولُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ جَاءَنَا بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالْهُدَى فَأَجَبْنَا وَاتَّبَعْنَا فَيُقَالُ نَمْ صَالِحًا فَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا أَنَّكَ كُنْتَ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَأَمَّا الْمُنَافِقُ أَوِ الْمُرْتَابُ لَا أَدْرِي أَيَّ ذَلِكَ قَالَتْ فَيَقُولُ لَا أَدْرِي سَمِعْتُ النَّاسَ يَقُولُونَ شَيْئًا فَقُلْتُهُ

✧ I came to A’ishah and the people were standing and she was praying. I said, “What is wrong with the people?” She gestured with her hand toward the sky and said, “Glory be to God.” I said, “A sign?” She gestured with her head, meaning yes. I stood until faintness nearly overcame me, and I began pouring water over my head. She said: The Messenger of God ﷺ praised God and extolled Him as He deserves, and said, “There is nothing that I was shown except that I saw it in this station of mine, even Paradise and Hellfire. It has been revealed to me that you will be tested in the graves with a trial like or close to — I do not know which Asma’ said — the trial of the Messiah the Dajjal. One of you will be approached and asked, ‘What knowledge do you have of this man?’ As for the believer, he will say, ‘Muhammad is the Messenger of God ﷺ. He came to us with clear proofs and guidance, and we responded and followed.’ Then it will be said, ‘Sleep righteously, for we already knew that you believed in God.’ As for the hypocrite or the doubter — I do not know which she said — he will say, ‘I do not know; I heard people saying something, so I said it.’”
