حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ بِإِسْنَادِهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى صَلَاةَ الْكُسُوفِ فَقَامَ فَأَطَالَ الْقِيَامَ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَأَطَالَ الرُّكُوعَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ فَسَجَدَ فَأَطَالَ السُّجُودَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ فَسَجَدَ فَأَطَالَ السُّجُودَ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فَقَالَ قَدْ قُرِّبَتْ مِنِّي الْجَنَّةُ حَتَّى لَوْ أنِّي اخْتَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهَا لَجِئْتُكُمْ بِقِطَافٍ مِنْ قِطَافِهَا وَدَنَتْ مِنِّي النَّارُ حَتَّى قُلْتُ أَيْ رَبِّ وَأَنَا مَعَهُمْ فَإِذَا امْرَأَةٌ حَسْنَاءَ تَخْدِشُهَا هِرَّةٌ فَقُلْتُ مَا شَأْنُ هَذِهِ؟ قَالُوا حَبَسَتْهَا حَتَّى مَاتَتْ جُوعًا لَا أَطْعَمَتْهَا وَلَا أَرْسَلَتْهَا تَأْكُلُ قَالَ نَافِعٌ حَسِبْتُ قَالَ «مِنْ حَشِيشٍ أوْحَشَائِشِ الْأَرْضِ»

Translation

Yaḥyá b. Ayyūb And ʿAmrū b. Abū al-Ṭāhir Biʾisnādih

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ prayed the eclipse prayer. He stood and prolonged the standing, then bowed and prolonged the bowing, then raised his head, prostrated and prolonged the prostration, then raised his head, prostrated and prolonged the prostration, then finished. He said: "Paradise was brought so close to me that if I had stretched out for it, I would have brought you a bunch of its bunches. And Hellfire was brought so close to me that I said: 'O Lord, and I am with them?' Then I saw a beautiful woman being scratched by a cat. I said: 'What is the matter with this one?' They said: 'She imprisoned it until it died of hunger: she neither fed it nor let it go to eat.'" Nafi' said: "I think he said: 'from the herbage or the plants of the earth.'"
